As a team, we spend every afternoon and weekends, enjoying giving individual Maths & English Tuition, to those who need a little extra boost to keep them up to speed in school.  They feel very comfortable asking any questions that they will not ask in class, our lessons are very informative, exciting and varied.  After spending years working in different environments, we encourage the students to turn homework problems into real-life situations.

The students look forward to coming along each week and some even chose to continue during the summer holiday.  A large portion of the session is spent building the students confidence, they often understand the maths, but do not have the confidence to use it.

The best tutors are those who show you where to look, but not what to see!

Here are a few comments from very happy parents & students -

  • Andrea has just had 4 of her year 8 maths students move up a set in maths.  Well done, that is a huge achievement.   (February 2018)

  • Andrea must be doing a good job if my son would rather attend a maths lesson than the Xmas concert!!   (December 2017)

  • Thank you so much Sue, I spoke to my daughters maths teacher last week and she is top of the class and confident to answer questions now, whereas before she hated going.   (March 2016)

  • I had applied for a new job and was told that there would be a maths test as part of the interview process.  It was many years ago that I sat my last maths exam and was a bit worried about the interview.  I spend 4 hours with Sue who went through and asked me questions on the type of maths I would need to use in the new job.  I don't think I would have passed that test without Sue's help.  Liz (10.06.2015)

  • After years of my son struggling to read and write, even with 2 hours 'one to one' lessons in school, I was in turmoil as at the age of 9, he was still unable to read and write. I asked on FB if anybody knew of a local tutor and lots of friends came up with the name, "Sue Williams".  I phoned Sue and my son had his first lesson.  Amazing!  Even after the first lesson of 1 hour he was reading!  My son is now a different child because of Sue's wonderful ability to teach.  I can only say that I wish I'd known about Sue years ago.  My 9 year old can "READ", thanks to Sue Williams.  Mrs S. Parker (01.12.2014)

  • "I got in touch with Sue on Gumtree, I found my first lesson amazing.  I learnt how to do fractions in the most easiest way possible, Sue took her time explaining it in a great way (Sue's pizzas).  I felt so comfortable and Sue was funny, but serious at the same time.  I definitely felt more confident about maths in that first lesson.  Sue is brilliant, she is able to teach in such a fun way, but she also makes sure you understand it.  I feel like I am guaranteed to learn any type of maths and pass my GCSE exam."

  • "Lucy commenced Maths tutoring at the beginning of year 7, (Nov 2012).
She is always taught in a relaxed, welcoming and friendly environment. The emphasis is upon building confidence and learning/coping with new skills.
Tutoring mirrors what Lucy is being taught in school, so any problems are quickly ironed out. All work covered is regularly revisited.
Since starting extra tutoring we have had very positive feedback from school and Lucy feels more able and confident in her use of maths."

Corinne Thomas (Lucy had 92% for her first test in Year 8)

  • Thank you so much Sue,

You have helped Morgan so much during the last 6 weeks to get ready for his GCSE exams.  He            couldn't have done it without you.

         Mary Davies (June 2013)

  • I have known Mrs Sue Williams for several years and have found her to be honest, reliable and hard-working.
She is a modern day Wonder Woman who can turn her hand to almost anything.
She is outgoing and her approachable manner inspires confidence, curiosity and understanding.
